The Making of Art -The Manual
When an Exhibition is hugely popular or visitor numbers are very high, you may find that getting near enough to the artwork to even catch a glimpse is tricky but picking your moment for your visit can result in spending some real quality time with the Art.
Sketching the exhibits is a very enjoyable way of taking in the compositions, forms, line work, colour and detail and most galleries and museums positively encourage studying the Art in this way. At the National Gallery, for instance, they are more than happy for you to take your own stool, a hand-held pad of paper and some suitable dry media and draw away to your heart’s content. With this in mind, why not check out our National Gallery range of pads and pencils from Bruynzeel.
Just be aware that, when heading out to sketch at galleries, most will prohibit wet media or really messy dry media such as charcoal, pastel and permanent markers and, if it gets really busy, you may be asked to move on!
Look up the galleries' web sites for their guidelines. Here is the National Gallery's Information.
