Putty Rubber

Also known as a ‘Kneaded eraser’, putty rubbers are made from a pliable material - traditionally a linseed oil based putty - that allows artists to mould the eraser by hand into a desired shape. They are particularly useful for highlighting and detail work as they may be moulded into a fine point for precision erasing and, as they leave no ‘shavings’ or dust, can be more practical for the artist than plastic erasers.

Putty rubbers are made by various brands including Faber Castell, Conte a Paris and Cretacolor and are typically coloured white or grey.
