Gesso Primers & Sizes

Gesso is a calcium-based primer that provides the perfect base for Oil and Acrylic Painting. Its chalky nature gives the paint a 'key' to bond with and stops the paint, especially in the case of oil, seeping into the support and loosing its strength of colour. It can be applied to canvas, wood, board and heavy-weight paper prior to painting or used to cover over unwanted paintings to make a surface re-usable. All readymade canvases are pre-primed.
