Reeves

In 1766, William Reeves opened his first shop near St. Paul’s Cathedral, London. With a strong family input, the business successfully grew around William’s invention of the Moist Watercolour Paint-Cake which put Reeves at the forefront of Artists’ Materials manufacturing although it was his brother, Thomas, who expanded the business and gave it a firm foundation. In the 1860s, descendants of the original Reeves began to concentrate on cheaper paints for children and beginners and continued to expand this range into the 1940s with the introduction of Powder Paints and Redimix Poster Colour. Today it is owned by ColArt and continues to provide fantastic starter Art Materials.
